My Favorite Candles

Over the years of going to conventions, local shows and events. I always seem to run in to local candle makers and the same ones over and over again. As I enter their booth and they happen to have a promotion or sale. I do tend to buy in sets or packs to make it worth the purchase. After lighting up candles over the years. I have come to a conclusion that these to me, are the best candles that I have ever used.

Please note that all of these candles are local made here in southern California by small companies. They have also have the best smelling candles that I have ever used and two of them have beeswax blends. And so here they are.

  1. PIECE BY PAZ – Soy and beexwax blended candles that uses recycle wine bottles as containers. My favorite aroma is the Three Muskytiers, bar none. I do not think there any better aroma in their collection. If this happens to be sold out then my back up would be the Secret Garden. This is the only candle that uses wood wicks instead of cotton, which I actually prefer as it it does add a bit of sparkle.  I would say the Three Muskytiers is more a masculine scent but it can be unisex if you are into that musk smell.
  2. District Los Angeles – Another soy and beeswax blended candle. While the picture shows Amber Musk but my favorite is the Amber Cedarwood as the base notes shines much better than Amber Musk. This is the cheapest of three and the best bargain of all three. It also uses cotton wick and come sin two sizes, 4 oz and 8 oz.
  3. APOLIS – Cypress Fig. This is the only soy candle wax in this group but somehow it has the strongest scent. Uses a cotton wick and its container is classical. Remind me of beer bottle due to the brown hue. It is also the more honest and ethical company of all three as they do disclose factory information on the label. If there was a candle that is certainly masculine, then this would be it. The bad thing is that is also the most expensive of all three candle company depending on the size.  I have this on my desk without the cap and I use it as a decoration and it can actually fill up a small apse with its aroma without lighting it up.

I am sure there are other candle makers that may or may not have the same material and selection as my favorites but so far, I have not come across any that would be better than the list above. I am sure that 100% beeswax would be my prefer but the selection of aroma is not as good or don’t have what I am looking for. Thus, the three above satisfy my needs.
