Trends – Barbour Waxed Jacket

Barbour is known for it’s heritage and jackets. Proud for their brand and the Made in England moniker. For 2026, looks like their waxed jackets will be the trends and many brands have already been inspired.

Barbour is known for the Ashby and Beaufort waxed jackets and are interchangeable because of the similarity. Both styles are famous for their waxed and warmth performance, since it rains in England a lot. Additionally, the United Kingdom is gloomy and a lot of rain. This is why Barbour performs well due to their water resistant from the rain, especially when sailing. A lot of hunters are also wearing the Barbour jackets due for the same reasons. Even the English Royals also wear them.

The Barbour jacket has distinctive design that is easily seen and recognize. It’s front pockets with flap, big metal zippers with snap flap closure and finally, the corduroy collar.

Now on to the trend of the Barbour Jackets. Many brands have already shown their version of the Barbour jackets.

1. H&M has the waxed cotton jacket. It is shorter in length, welt pockets and the classic corduroy collar.

2. J. Crew sells the Barbour jacket but their factory side has their own branding that is similar to the Barbour jacket. Front flap pockets, side pockets, big metal zippers with snap flap closure and the corduroy collar.

3. Zara uses denim for their jacket but still retain the snap flap front pockets, metal zippers with snap closure and the corduroy collar.

4. Madewell has something similar to Zara. Made of denim with similar design but do have welt pockets on the upper side. This style is much more expressive due to the washed look nature of the denim.

5. Lucky brand is calling their the barn jacket. It is waxed cotton with corduroy collar, metal zippers with snap closure with the usual front flap pockets and welt side pockets. Comes in olive and brown.

6. American Eagle Outfitters made their shorter in length with snap flat front pockets. Metal zippers with corduroy lined flap closure.

Barbour also have collaboration here and there with J. Crew and Levi’s. 2026 is look bright for Barbour and profits will be huge. Additionally, more and more people will start to wear Barbour jackets as they are versatile and warm when cold season start. The waxed nature of it helps when it rains.

I just hope that they will continue to made their Ashby and Beaufort in England.
