visvim – Dry Denim

Here is something interesting coming from visvim. Their Dry Denim. The Dry Denim is not just new a new line but also a process that has been in developments for a long time. The inspiration for this line are vintage denim that are dry and stiff. By removing the natural oils from the fibers, visvim created a pre-shrunk denim clothing that are stuff with a vintage looks and feel.

On the left is the item without the process, the right is visvim special process.

This process is actually quite hard to control is it uses a complex technique that is not normally use. This line also has hand painted copper rivets and best of all, each pair or item will always be unique due to the process. As usual with visvim, this will not be cheap but at least it is inspiring to see that they are still designing and developing new items for the industry to appreciate. Check the link for more info.

I am inspired by this process as it gives me something to think about when creating denim. Not only that, it is good to see that while it uses a complex technique, it still can be possible to actually have pre-shrunk goods. Surely, I cannot afford visvim items but I can appreciate them.
